OUR STORY

Clydebank Musical Society (CMS) was formed in 1981 to provide a platform for the development of local talent in all aspects of musical theatre and to encourage an interest in the performing arts. More than 40 years later, CMS continues to provide first-class entertainment for Clydebank and the surrounding communities, with opportunities available across our three thriving sections.

Our Adult Section, for members aged 18 and over, rehearses from September to March, culminating each year in a full-scale musical production. The section welcomes performers with a wide range of ages and experience, all brought together by a shared love of musical theatre.

Following an overwhelming response to child auditions for Oliver! in 1990, CMS Juniors was established and has continued to go from strength to strength. Open to young people from P7 moving into S1 through to 18 years old, the Junior season runs from April to October, working towards a full-scale musical production. Members develop their skills in singing, dancing and acting while building confidence, teamwork and lifelong friendships.

In 2022, the CMS family expanded again with the creation of CMS Minis, for children from Primary 4 to Primary 7. Minis begin with Theatre Craft workshops in September, developing skills across singing, dance and drama, before beginning work on their musical production from November through to May/June. The section provides a fantastic introduction to musical theatre and a pathway towards CMS Juniors.

We are incredibly proud that CMS now provides opportunities for performers to develop from their first experiences with Minis, through Juniors and eventually into our Adult Section.
